Soundtrack to NZ: JR & PH7

It's been a month abroad and I already have picked up a few addictions--pause--nothing intense. For instance, I have established an insanely strong sweet tooth (more about this in a future post) and have just realized I am kind of overdoing tops with mini stripes, specifically grey and cream. Strange, I know.

Anyway, I have officially committed to running a half marathon in March and was tooling around on iTunes looking for training music. My parents probably think I am looking for any excuse to buy something, which is usually true, but when faced with a steep uphill climb after a 30 min run, Bon Iver and David Gray just does not push me to go for it. I love the banjo, etheral, indie tunes I have been stockpiling over the summer, but what I need now is either in the techno or hip hop category. I was debating about spending about $13 US for the new Jay-Z Blueprint when I somehow found this insane bargain (US$9.99!) of an album called The Standard by two German producers JR & PH7. This is true love-- like the hip hop that plays in my dreams. (Yes my dreams have soundtracks). I've been listening to them for the last hour with no signs of stopping. I have no idea what these guys' story is or who their collaborators are but 'NC' is being thrown around on a few tracks, even an 'NC State of mind,' so I am even more pumped.

'Dreams' is my fave at the moment, but the whole album can just play through and I am happy as a clam. I haven't been homesick too much here in NZ, but I didn't realize how much I miss this kind of music. Le sigh...
